Diffraction Model on the Breakwater Gap Based on Velocity Potential Equation
Keywords:
diffraction, break water gap, velocity potential equationAbstract
In this research, the governing equation for wave diffraction at a breakwater gap is formulated. The equation is derived by substituting the three-dimensional velocity potential—obtained as the solution to the Laplace equation—into the Laplace equation, under the condition that there is a variation or differential in the wave constants. The resulting equation is a second-order partial differential equation with respect to one of the wave constants. The governing equation is then solved numerically using the Finite Difference Method, employing the Successive Over Relaxation (SOR) technique for the iterative calculation.
